MEET OUR DIRECTOR
Mr. Nicholas Wainwright is thrilled to have the opportunity to open Horizon High and Water Spring Middle Schools with a brand-new theatre program!
Mr. Wainwright holds a BFA in Theatre Directing, Playwriting, and Production from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He has served as Artistic Director of a NJ theatre company- Daydreamer Productions, has been nominated for a few awards for his direction in the theatre and has also received performance awards from Paper Mill Playhouse amongst others. He can be seen performing at Universal Orlando Resort during the Grinchmas holiday season, performing in local venues such as the Garden Theatre or Osceola Arts. Mr. Wainwright most recently built a new theatre program in Osceola County School District, is the current director at Citrus Music in Orlando, FL, and is currently an Entertainment Guest Experience Manager for Walt Disney World Resort.
Mr. Wainwright is a theatrical director, creating work with a balance of thought-provoking issues, and entertainment through dark/twisted whimsy and vaudevillian techniques. His sold-out Philadelphia productions of Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Parade were widely acclaimed, and his first production in Central Florida of Pippin made waves by use of simple storytelling techniques brought to a commercially dominant area. By mixing elements of Burtonesque designs, story theatre elements, and Fosse’s choreography stylings- his work balances on the dark/unusual whilst still appropriate for commercial audiences. His style and eye for details makes for an interesting and collaborative rehearsal room, and an unapologetically stylized production. He is excited to challenge students on what the theatre is capable of, and looks forward to producing exciting productions.
